No, The TV Food Network's youngest star, British chef Jamie Oliver isn't actually naked in these books (although he is a cutie and People Magazine did dub him the "sexiest chef of the year"). "Naked" in this case refers to Jamie's philosophy that good cooking doesn't have to be unnecessarily complicated and cluttered. In these two volumes Jamie shares his fabulous recipes with home cooks. He breaks each dish down to its essential components, leaving you with great tasting dishes made with down-to-earth ingredients that didn't take forever to prepare. Sometimes simple really is better and Jamie has a knack for combining a few basic ingredients and comming up with a culinary total that is much more than the sum of its parts. The Naked Chef's likable and easy going personality shines through in these books as much as it does his television series. Each recipe is accompanied by Jamie's notes, which help make each dish easy to accomplish. He's so enthusiastic about food and cooking you'll almost feel as though you have a friend coaching you in the kitchen and at the market. Pasta lovers should also note that Jamie devotes a fair amount of ink in both these books to pasta recipes - not only the sauces but also detailed instructions and recipes for making your own homemade fresh noodles. Of course, you'll also find recipes for all kinds of other entrees (meats and seafood), appetizers, soups, salads and even desserts. If you've been getting bored with supper lately, either of these books will kelp you shake things up with wholesome food, brilliantly prepared. Getting "naked" will have a whole new meaning.
